Friday 4 July
Peter and Will began to write together in 1997 when they discovered they shared an unhealthy obsession with puns. Every year since then they have written and appeared in a comedy play or pantomime for the Denford Thespians in East Northants. This led to the formation of ‘Sweet F.A.’, allowing the duo to write and perform their own comic songs, ably supported by the fabulous musical talents of The Julie Burgess One. As a result they have become famous the length and breadth of Front Street, Denford. They have also toured extensively, to Raunds, Stanwick, Thrapston, Oundle, and even Northampton once.
Will’s comedy roots stretch back to Cambridge Footlights in the 1970s. Peter is a chartered engineer developing industrial computer software, so needs all the laughs he can get. Their words are expertly and wittily put to music by Julie Burgess. Julie is an excellent keyboard player and singer, Peter plays piano and guitar, while Will plays the fool to Grade 8. Some of their songs are thoughtful and poignant, but most are just downright daft.
Sweet F.A. feel that the great tradition of the English comic song is long overdue for a comeback – and the time is now!
Don’t miss this wonderful evening of comic songs and general silliness from Peter Fairweather and Will Adams expertly accompanied by Sweet F.A. house band The Julie Burgess One.
