Peterborough Flute Choir was founded in 2018 by Charlie Kisby who, having enjoyed playing in flute choirs around the south east of England, wanted to have one on her doorstep. Since the first rehearsal with four members, the group has grown to about 18 regular flautists who come from the Peterborough, Spalding, March and Oundle areas to name a few. The ensemble aims to raise the profile of the flute, and is able to showcase the flute family from the tiny piccolo to the mighty contrabass. Last year, our members were kept very busy performing throughout the year with a deliciously disproportionate amount of cream tea concerts in Stoke Doyle, Glapthorn, Wadenhoe, Thorney, and Wisbech St Marys among the 17 events.
We provide a varied range of music with something for everyone and look forward to playing at the Oundle Fringe Festival again. A taster of music in the pipeline for this summer includes: The Cachucha (Sullivan), Blackbird (McCartney), Once Upon a Time in the West (Morricone), Pizzicato Polka (Strauss), Two Turkish Dances (Sharma), and a selection from Mother Goose Suite (Ravel).
